Gabriel Jesus set up one and scored another as Arsenal claimed all three points on the road against Sevilla.
It was a game that started fairly even in Andalusia with the opening goal coming in first-half stoppage time.
It was a quick counterattack from a Sevilla corner that set the Gunners away. Gabriel’s clearance was picked up by Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian did brilliantly well to evade two defenders before playing a perfect through ball to his compatriot Gabriel Martinelli.
Martinelli had a lot of time to think about it but he kept his cool as he took the ball past goalkeeper Orjan Nyland and tapped it into the net.
The forward picked up the ball wide on the wide, moved the ball inside, and then curled in a picture-perfect effort around the goalkeeper and into the far corner.
Despite being 2-0 down Sevilla did fight back and pulled one back through Nemanja Gudelj. The Serbian defensive midfielder rose highest to head in from Ivan Rakitic’s corner.
Mikel Arteta’s team managed to remain strong at the back with Declan Rice making some key interceptions in the middle of the park to hold on to earn all three points after a tough night in the south of Spain.
