Matt Ritchie scored a late equaliser against his former side Bournemouth, as Newcastle twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against the Cherries at St James' Park on Saturday.
The in-form Dominic Solanke put Andoni Iraola's visitors ahead at the start of the second period - pouncing on an error from Magpie keeper Martin Dubravka, but Anthony Gordon levelled from the penalty spot to restore parity on 58 minutes.
Bournemouth once again got their noses in front when Antoine Semenyo converted a thunderous drive with 20 minutes to go, but Ritchie was in the right place at the right time to prod home Bruno Guimaraes' cross to salvage a point for the hosts in added time.
Newcastle remain seventh in the table after the draw, while Bournemouth have moved nine points clear of the bottom three.
