Arsenal have announced that Vivianne Miedema will be departing the club at the end of the season upon the expiry of her contract.
The Dutch international initially joined the Gunners from Bayern Munich in 2017 and has since amassed an impressive record of 125 goals and 50 assists in 172 appearances.
Miedema, who has made 13 appearances this season following her recovery from an ACL injury, currently is the all-time top-scorer in the Women's Super League with 79 goals
The Netherlands striker claimed the WSL Golden Boot accolade in both the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons.
During her tenure in North London, Miedema played a key part in Arsenal's Women’s Super League title in the 2018/19 campaign. Additionally, she secured three FA Women's Continental Tyres League Cups with the club.
According to Emma Sanders of the BBC Sport, Manchester City are interested in the player's signature for next season with the Gunners feeling like this was the 'natural end' for Miedema at the club.
