Raul Albiol has extended his contract with Real Madrid, until the summer of 2017, putting an end to speculation regarding an exit from the club.
The Spanish defender has signed a new two-year contract with La Liga champions, even though he only made 10 league appearances for the merengues, last term, being subsequently linked with a move out of the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 26-year-old player arrived in Madrid from Valencia, in the summer of 2009, for a fee surrounding the €15m (£12m).
Albiol earned a regular place at Jose Mourinho’s first-team defence, mainly due to Pepe’s absence.
