Manchester United have suffered a blow as Anderson won’t be fit until February, after sustaining knee injury earlier this month.
Thus, Manchester United have lost their early season midfield duo, as the Brazilian joined Tom Cleverley on the treatment tables. The Red Devils hoped Anderson’s problem was not a long-term one, but after seeing a specialist in Portugal, it was determined he would be out for two more months.
“Anderson is not it until February. He’s gone to see a specialist in Portugal about his knee. We didn’t expect that and it’s a blow”, Sir Alex Ferguson revealed about the midfielder, who lost most of last season with a knee ligament injury.
However, Fergie insists Manchester United are well served in the midfield.
“We're not as bad as people think we are in midfield with the experience of Giggs, Carrick and Fletcher, and if we get Cleverley back for Christmas, that'll be a bonus."
Rooney fit for Newcastle
Anderson’s injury is bad news for Manchester United, but the Red Devils received a boost for Saturday’s clash against Newcastle as Wayne Rooney is fit to play after missing the midweek game against Benfica with a hip injury.
