Chelsea boss André Villas-Boas has stressed Fernando Torres is not for sale “at any price”, despite his constant low-form and reiterated Frank Lampard is not going anywhere as well as he remains a very important player to the squad.
Fernando Torres joined the Stamford Bridge club almost a year ago from Liverpool, with Chelsea paying £50 million for a striker who netted only five goals since his arrival. His poor display with the Blues outfit led to rumours that the club were trying to offload him in the market reopening and would listen to offers around £20m.
But the Portuguese tactician insists Torres is still part of his plans, despite having lost a place in the first team to Didier Drogba.
“Torres is not for sale at any price, now or in the summer,” Villas-Boas said ahead of Saturday's trip to Wigan.
Lampard has “massive magnitude”
Lampard's future has also been subject of intense speculation. The 33 year-old veteran has been alternating presences in the first team and on the bench as he proved to be far from his best. However, he is still Chelsea's top goalscorer, with seven goals in the Premiership, and André Villas-Boas hails his importance in the squad despite his plans to reduce the high age of his squad.
“Frank Lampard is a player of massive magnitude to this club.”
