Manchester United's long pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong shows no signs of ending - amid further reports that the Red Devils are weighing up deals for Ajax's Mohammed Kudus and Monaco's Axel Disasi.
Although there has been speculation that Dutch playmaker De Jong is warming to the idea of a move to Old Trafford, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has rather quashed any excitement by stating that the midfielder is "not for sale". Which sounds pretty categoric.
Ghana international Kudus could be a more realistic target in the January window given his former links with United boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax. The word on the street, well in the Guardian, is that - for the moment - the dynamic midfielder's price tag of £35m is putting United off.
Disasi's stock rose after a handful of appearances for France at the 2022 World Cup, and he has plenty of admirers in the Premier League with West Ham and Tottenham closely monitoring him. United are also interested, and if the Red Devils were to sign Disasi the writing would surely be on the wall for Harry Maguire.
