Del Piero - It would have been 'football suicide' to lose or draw against Lazio

Juventus attacker, Alessandro Del Piero, has highlighted the importance of his side's victory against Lazio in the fight for the Italian league title.

Thanks to their 2-1 win over Lazio, on Wednesday evening, the bianconeri have overtaken AC Milan and are now isolated at the top of the Serie A table, one point clear from the rossoneri, and Del Piero is hopeful that his goal will be helpful in the Old Lady fight for the scudetto.

"I hope that this goal will be the one that eventually proves crucial in the race for the Scudetto," the 37-year-old player told reporters.

"It would have been football suicide if we had drawn or lost this game after our superb first half. We will keep fighting till the end. Milan won't give up, but neither will we."

"It's all about holding your nerves and fighting fatigue now. We're feeling great and are focussing on our next game," he concluded.
