Real Sociedad midfielder Esteban Granero has been ruled out of action for up to six months due to a knee injury.
The 26-year-old Spaniard, who is on loan at the La Liga side from Queens Park Rangers, suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage during Tuesday's Champions League 2-0 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk.
And the club released a statement confirming the extent of the player's injury.
"The MRI scan done this morning discovered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus injury in Granero's right knee," read the statement on Sociedad's official website.
"This injury will require surgical repair. The player will perform a physical therapy focused on stimulating and maintaining the neuromuscular control of the joint."
