Atletico Madrid star Radamel Falcao has stressed that he is not trying to compete with Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi, stating that he is solely focused on his own displays.
The Colombian forward had declared, earlier this summer, that he was ready to compete with the duo for the Pichichi award, but he now insisted that his only ambition is to help Atletico Madrid succeed this season.
"I did not say I wanted to compete with Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi," Falcao told AS.
"I simply want to score goals to help my team, nothing more. At the end we'll see where I am."
"The most important thing is that the team fulfils their objectives. We are competing with 19 other teams, [sic] not only against Madrid and Barca."
The former Porto striker scored seven goals in a total of five La Liga games, so far this campaign.
