Tottenham took White Hart Lane by storm after beating Shamrock Rovers with three goals in six minutes turning a negative score around. With the first win in Europa League Group A, Harry Redknapp’s side managed to get closer to the top, equaling leaders Rubin Kazan.
After a first half with no history, a courageous Shamrock’s Rice iced White Hart Lane with a 50’ opener. But then came the hurricane, with Tottenham’s attack turning the score over in just two minutes and adding a third goal to their account right after.
First, Pavlyuchenko, ten minutes after Rice gave the Irish side an advantage, and Jermaine Defoe, two minutes later, tore Shamrock’s defence apart. Mexican Giovanni dos Santos, one of the youngsters who came on the team for this tie, didn’t take more than four minutes to sign the third goal for the Spurs, ending up with any doubts.
Rubin Kazan surprised by PAOK Saloniki
On the other Group A match, Rubin Kazan were surprised at home by PAOK Saloniki, not going past a two-goal tie.
Valdez and Dyadyun scored for the Russian side while Lazar and Fotakis netted for the Greeks.
