Frank Lampard proved manager André Villas-Boas was right in defending him after scoring Chelsea’s only goal in the draw at Valencia. Lamps had his first starting XI appearance in three games and is determined to grab his place back.
“I don’t want to just pick up my money and sit on the backside on the bench. But you have to respect the manager and respect the team and the quality and the squad that we have”, he said.
At the age of 33, Lampard acknowledges he doesn’t have too may more years left but he reassures he is as determined as he has ever been to give his contribution to the team.
“Fortunately enough, I’m at a club I love and I’ve got a great history here. I want to continue that story for a good few years.”
