An under fire Frank Lampard seems to be again in good form after scoring a “hat-trick” this weekend and wants to prove his critics wrong by playing for as long as he can.
The 33 years on the ID card are no scare for the England international, who wants to outplay Manchester United veteran rival Ryan Giggs.
“People talk about age but I feel good, as good as I have ever felt”, he said.
“With experience, it is even easier to manage yourself through a season and week to week. Hopefully I can keep doing what I did against Bolton.”
Lamps knows he is closing in on the end of his career, but he assures he is still fit enough to postpone hanging up his boots.
“At 25, you’ve just had a bad game. But at 30-plus you’re too old. The only way to stay away from that is to keep playing well. That is why Giggs plays comfortably until he is 37 – because he consistently plays well.”
