Liverpool reignite title bid with victory at Fulham

Liverpool recorded a crucial victory over Fulham to inject fresh momentum into their Premier League title bid.

An accomplished display from Jurgen Klopp's side was the perfect riposte to those writing off the Reds following their surprise loss to Crystal Palace last weekend. 

Making his first top flight appearance in more than two months, Trent Alexander-Arnold curled home a fabulous first-half free-kick to put the visitors ahead and, although Timothy Castagne levelled for Fulham before the break, Ryan Gravenberch's inch-perfect finish from the edge of the box restored the Reds' advantage.

Klopp's side were pushing for a third and a Diogo Jota pass almost forced Calvin Bassey into a desperate own goal before the Portuguese made it 3-1 to the visitors. 

Gravenberch found space in the middle of the park to feed Cody Gakpo, who bundled through a challenge and threaded a ball in the inside left channel for Jota to latch on to and fire low past Bernd Leno in the Cottagers' goal. 

Former Liverpool academy graduate Harry Wilson drew a late save from Alisson, but the Merseysiders protected their lead to claim a valuable three points that keeps them firmly in the Premier League title race. 

Victory at Craven Cottage lifted Liverpool back up to second in the table level on points with leaders Arsenal - who have a better goal difference. Both sides are a point above third-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
