Neymar was stretchered off the pitch in Brazil’s 2-0 defeat away to Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay in CONMEBOL qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, last night.
The Al Hilal attacker went down after a challenge but without contact from the opposition player, Nicolas de la Cruz, and was seen to be in tears as he departed.
It has not yet been confirmed what Neymar’s injury is but he was seen leaving the stadium on crutches and it has been speculated on social media by a Sports Medicine Doctor, Brian Sutterer, that the video of his injury indicates a potential ACL injury to his left knee.
The 31-year-old joined Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window but has had a stop-start time to life in Saudi Arabia, making just three appearances for the current league leaders.
He has earned 127 caps for the Brazilian national team and recently became their all-time leading goal scorer, ahead of Pele, with 79 for the Selecao.
