Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Varela, on a five-year deal.
The 20-year-old sealed a deal with the Premier League champions for an undisclosed fee, after having impressed during a two-week trial period at Carrington.
Varela will move to Old Trafford after representing Uruguay at the U20 World Cup in Turkey, but he has already expressed his satisfaction for having completed the transfer.
"I'm very pleased to be a part of this club, one of the best teams in the world," Varela stated.
"As everyone in the world knows, this is a huge club that has won everything and I really hope that continues. I'm very lucky there are quite a few Spanish-speakers here. It will certainly help me settle in."
The youngster became the first signing for the Red Devils since David Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson as manager at Old Trafford.
