Oxford United have made their first signing of the summer by bringing in Notts County forward Ruben Rodrigues.
The 26-year-old will officially join the club on July 1 after completing a medical examination and reaching an agreement on personal terms for a long-term contract.
Although Notts had offered Rodrigues a new contract, his deal was set to expire this month, and it seemed likely that he would move up the football pyramid.
The Portuguese forward played a crucial role in Notts County's return to the English Football League scoring a goal in extra time to equalise, and also scoring in the penalty shootout in their play-off final victory over Chesterfield.
In the 2022-23 season, he scored 19 goals and provided 16 assists in the National League, establishing himself as one of the most creative players in the division.
Speaking to OUFC.co.uk, Rúben said: “It’s an exciting move for me. I loved my time at Notts County, and last season was amazing,
but this is a chance to test myself at a higher level.
“The way that the Coach wants to play is similar to the way I like to play. The training facilities are great, the club has big ambitions, and I can’t wait to get started.”
✍️ Oxford United are delighted to announce the signing of Rúben Rodrigues, who joins the club following the expiration of his contract with Notts County.
