Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United according to reports from The Times.
The player has apparently told the club of his desire to leave Old Trafford for a second time as he seeks to continue playing in the Champions League with the Red Devils set for Europa League competition this season.
The move gives an early headache for new boss Erik ten Hag who will need to fill the void upfront should the Portuguese talisman leave the club. Edinson Cavani left the club this summer while and Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are both struggling for form.
It will be interesting to see what clubs can afford to buy Ronaldo and pay his reported £500k-a-week wages with Chelsea and Bayern Munich two of the clubs that have been linked to the player already this summer.
Ronaldo was one of Manchester United’s few players who delivered in a troubled 2021/22 campaign, scoring 24 goals in 38 games for the club.
