Brazilian club Santos suffered their first relegation in their 111-year history after suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Fortaleza.
Santos, famous for giving football the likes of Pelé (whose funeral was held at the club's Urbano Caldeira stadium in January of this year) and Neymar, needed to win against Fortaleza but fell to Juan Martín Lucero's late goal meaning that one of the country's most successful teams will compete in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B next season.
Bahia, who are owned by the City Football Group, finished just one point above Santos after winning 4-1 at home to Atlético Mineiro.
São Paulo and Flamengo are now the only Brazilian clubs who have yet to suffer relegation.
At the other end of the table, Palmeiras were crowned champions for the second time in a row following a 1-1 draw with Cruzeiro with 17-year-old Endrick scoring for the São Paulo-based side.
