Sampdoria ended the Serie A season on a high, recording a memorable 3-2 victory over two-times champions Juventus, on a rainy Saturday evening in Genova.
The hosts came from a goal down to defeat the champions 3-2 at the Luigi Ferraris.
A last gasp goal from Giaccherini offered some overturn hopes to the Bianconeri but the home side were able to ride out the game after a heroic performance from their defenders and a very busy Da Costa.
Fabio Quagliarella deservedly broke the deadlock for the visitors halfway through the first half, but Sampdoria levelled the scoring, courtesy of a penalty from Eder, before superbly taking the lead through Lorenzo De Silvestri, just before the hour mark.
Mauco Icardi added a third for the Blucerchiati, 15 minutes from time, and that goal ultimately proved decisive, with Emanuel Giaccherini striking in injury time to set up a tense final minutes.
However, the hosts held on to claim their first win since March, which was also their second over Juventus in the space of five months.
