Swiss stun favourites France with incredible penalty win

Switzerland have dumped World Champions and competition favourites, France, out of Euro 2020 with an astonishing shoot-out win in Bucharest after recovering a two-goal deficit.

France were expected to register a comfortable passage into the quarter-finals tonight, but surprisingly went in at halftime a goal down after a brilliantly placed Haris Seferović header.

The upset of the tournament suddenly looked possible when Switzerland were gifted a penalty 10 minutes after halftime, only for Hugo Lloris to save from Ricardo Rodriguez, allowing Karim Benzema to quickly score two goals of the highest quality in two minutes for a 2-1 lead.
