Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos is set to return to international football for the first time since 2021.
Kroos had last played for the Nationalelf in 2021 during the delayed Euro 2020 tournament with his last game until now having been Germany's 2-0 last sixteen defeat to England at Wembley.
Following the tournament Kroos received criticism for his international displays from senior figures in German football such as Lothar Matthäus and Uli Hoeness which led to his international retirement.
Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann took over the role in 2023 and opened the door for Kroos to return to the fold which the player has now accepted.
In a brief statement on Instagram, the player said: "Guys, short and painless: I will play for Germany again from March. Why? Because I was asked by the national coach, I'm up for it and I'm sure that a lot more is possible with the team at the European Championships than most people believe!"
34-year-old Kroos has earned 106 caps for his country so far and has scored 17 international goals.
