Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is aware that in order to remain in Jose Mourinho's first-team plans, the players must maintain a high level of performance.
The Spain international played the full 90 minutes for the first time this season the Capital One Cup 2-0 win over Swindon, on Tuesday night, and opened the scoring for the Blues, his second effort of the campaign.
"We know the season is long," Torres told the club's official website.
"We will have the chance to play important games. We are in the manager's plans. We have 25 very good players in the squad and it is difficult to play in this great team, but we are fighting for the positions.
"It is the manager's decision so to keep working hard is the only chance to start all the games."
