FC Porto have won their 27th Portuguese Liga title with a 2-0 away win over Pacos de Ferreira on Sunday evening, to continue their league dominance.
Argentine striker Lucho Gonzales put Porto ahead making no mistake from the penalty spot, after 23 minutes, and Colombia international Jackson Martinez’ doubled their lead after the break to ensure the north Portugal giants all three points.
Vitor Pereira’s side were, therefore, crowned Portuguese champions for a third consecutive campaign, while second-placed Benfica ended the season one point behind their arch-rivals, despite recording a 3-1 home win over Moreirense.
The Dragao side led the Liga table by a point going into the final day of the season and needed a victory to seal the title.
Porto have now won 14 out of the last 20 championships.
