Watford have named Claudio Ranieri as the successor to Xisco Munoz after the Spaniard became the Premier League's first managerial casualty on Sunday.
The 69-year-old Ranieri, who famously won the Premier League with Leicester in 2015-16, was previously without a club having left Serie A Sampdoria in the summer.
The Italian's appointment marks the 14th managerial change under Hornets' owners, the Pozzo family, since they took the reins at Vicarage Road back in 2012.
After leading Watford to promotion from the Championship last season, Munoz was sacked after the Hornets' 1-0 reverse at Leeds last weekend, a result that left them 14th in the top flight with seven points from seven games.
The charismatic Ranieri's first game in charge will be a home clash against Liverpool on Saturday, 16 October.
