João Gomes first goals of the season put a dent in Tottenham's hopes of clinching a top four spot this season, as Wolves secured a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Ange Postecoglu's side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Despite the hosts enjoying the majority of the possession all afternoon, Gary O'Neil's Wanderers were slick in attacking areas throughout and they could have taken the lead inside the first five minutes - but Hwang Hee-chan blazed over from close range.
However, the visitors remained on the front foot and they took the lead at the end of the first period when unmarked midfielder Gomes headed home from a corner.
Spurs lacked spark, but they managed to level the score immediately after the restart through Dejan Kulusevski - who wriggled free in the area and poked the ball through José Sá's legs.
Kulusevski then forced a fantastic save from Sá and had another shot well blocked by Semedo, but Wolves regrouped and then scored on 63 minutes after a stunning raid forward.
Wanderers sprang forward following a Tottenham corner and Pedro Neto ran well over 50 yards to tee up Gomes for his second goal of the game.
Tottenham had a huge opportunity to salvage a draw late on, but defender Ben Davies couldn't direct his header on target and Wolves held on for a deserved win.
The victorious Midlanders moved up to 10th in the table, while Tottenham slipped to fifth after Aston Villa's victory over Fulham.
