Chelsea continue to replicate the Brighton approach with the head of recruitment Sam Jewell set to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
There have been numerous transfers of players and backroom staff from the south coast to London (including predecessor Paul Winstanley) since the arrival of Todd Boehly with Jewell now the next in line.
The Seagulls confirmed the 34-year-old's decision in a statement: "Sam Jewell has accepted a new position at Chelsea FC.
"Sam has now commenced a period of gardening leave. We thank him for his long service to our club.
"With immediate effect, Mike Cave, assistant technical director, supported by George Holmes, scouting and intelligence manager, will assume Sam’s responsibilities."
Brighton are currently in seventh place in the Premier League, three points ahead of Chelsea.
