Bale and Ronaldo's efforts not enough for Real Madrid

Gareth Bale scored in his Real Madrid debut but Los Blancos failed to go beyond a 2-2 draw against Villarreal on Saturday night.

The Welsh star, who left Tottenham for the Santiago Bernabeu outfit in a world-record transfer deal earlier this month, cancelled out Cani's opener for Villarreal when he turned home a Daniel Carvajal cross.

Cristiano Ronaldo put Carlo Ancelotti's side ahead in the 64th minute, but Giovani dos Santos restored parity for the Yellow Submarines six minutes later.

Madrid pushed for a winner, but failed to succeed and had to settle for one point at Camp El Madrigal.
